Dr. Sheaffer grew
up in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania where his grandfather and
now his father practice general dentistry. He graduated from Earlham
College in Richmond, Indiana and attended The University of North
Carolina School of Dentistry.
After dental school, Dr. Sheaffer
and his wife, Dr. Lisa Brown Sheaffer, also a graduate of the
UNC School of Dentistry, joined the United States Army Dental Corps.
They completed the Advanced Education in General Dentistry-One
Year residency at Fort Lewis, Washington. During this residency,
Dr. Sheaffer worked closely with an endodontist and developed
a strong interest in this field of dentistry.
Upon fulfilling their
military obligations, the Sheaffers returned to Raleigh and
Dr. Sheaffer worked with Wake County Human Services in the Children’s
dental clinic. From 2000-2002 Dr. Sheaffer trained at the University
of Louisville School of Dentistry where he earned his endodontic
certificate and simultaneously completed his Masters Degree in
Oral Biology. Dr. Sheaffer published two papers on his research.
In addition to his endodontic practice, Dr. Sheaffer actively
participates with the Raleigh-Wake County Dental Society, Wake
Smiles volunteer dental clinic, Paul Revere Study Club, Cub Scouts,
and his church. Dr. Sheaffer is the proud father of two sons and
two daughters.
